About Us
Organisation Structure
SIS uses an integrated model of intelligence service - it performs both counter-intelligence and foreign intelligence tasks. The Director General is nominated by the Government and appointed by the President of the Slovak Republic; he manages and represents SIS in the public. The SIS Director General presents an annual report to the National Council of the Slovak Republic at least once a year.
Details of the SIS organisation and management are regulated in the SIS Code of Practice that is approved by the Government of the Slovak Republic in compliance with Section 3 (4) of the SIS Act. It serves as a basis for the SIS Internal Organisation Rules. Both documents contain classified information and are protected under the regulations on classified information.
Personnel Structure
The tasks of the service are performed by the SIS officers, i.e. citizens in a civil service (Act 73/1998 on Civil Service of the Police Corps, the Slovak Information Service, the Prison and Court Guard Corps and the Railway Police as amended).
In compliance with the SIS Act, the SIS officers on active duty are obliged to honour and respect human dignity, and avoid causing any damage or harm to persons concerned.
