SIS Director General
The Director General is nominated by the Government and appointed by the President of the Slovak Republic; he manages and represents SIS in the public. The SIS Director General presents an annual report to the National Council of the Slovak Republic at least once a year. The Special Oversight Committee of the Slovak Council of the Slovak Republic oversees the activities of the Service.
Upon the SIS Director General’s proposal, the Government of the Slovak Republic approves the SIS Code of Practice that regulates its focus, organisation and management. The Security Council of the Slovak Republic (the Council) assigns tasks to the Service. The Council is an advisory body of the Government headed by the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic; the SIS Director General is a permanent participant of its meetings. The Committee for Intelligence Service Coordination, as a part of the Council structure, discusses issues of intelligence services operating in Slovakia and security issues of Slovakia. The SIS Director General is a member of this Committee. The Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic is the chairman of the Committee.
